COMMUNITY SCHOOL PROJECT

COMMUNITY SCHOOL PROJECT

Cambodia

When IDEA’s founder, Robert Wong, first visited Cambodia in 2007, he observed that many children in rural areas were out of school.

Motivated by a belief in the power of architecture to support underserved communities, he partnered with a local NGO to address this need through school-building initiatives.

In 2009, IDEA launched its first village school construction project in Cambodia.

Since then, the organisation has engaged more than 500 volunteers from around the world, facilitated participatory design workshops with local children, and completed 11 school-building projects.

These efforts have delivered over 20 learning facilities, benefiting more than 5,000 children across rural communities.
