TUTOR: Alan Cheng
Born and raised in Hong Kong, Alan relocated to the UK to expand his architectural horizons, earning his Bachelor of Architecture and RIBA Part 1 qualification from the University of Nottingham. Driven by a passion for creating meaningful spaces, Alan co-founded the interior design studio Meridian 88. Here, Alan translates his East Asian heritage and architectural vision into thoughtful residential and hospitality designs.
Alongside his design practice, Alan brings two years of hands-on educational experience working across mainstream and SEND schools. This background has honed his ability to help students achieve their highest potential, both academically and in their extracurricular pursuits. Furthermore, Alan possesses substantial practical experience in international development, having actively participated in past school building expeditions in Cambodia and South Africa. These hands-on initiatives have deeply informed his understanding of sustainable, community-focused construction.
Alan is deeply committed to driving positive change in communities through purposeful design. He is eager to leverage his dual background in architecture and education, alongside his proven international fieldwork experience, to successfully lead the Cambodia school building project.
