SUPPORTING STREET CHILDREN
SUPPORTING STREET CHILDREN
India
The issue of street children remains a worsening social challenge in India, with over 18 million children living on the streets, the highest number globally.
Across cities, many underprivileged children are forced to survive by working as street performers, vendors, or beggars. At such a young age, they face significant hardship, are exposed to danger, and are at risk of exploitation and delinquency.

In 2012, IDEA collaborated with Kalki Welfare Society, an NGO based in the southern Indian city of Pondicherry, to renovate a shelter school together with the children.
The shelter provided not only learning opportunities but also essential care and emergency support for street children.
